Terms of Service

Effective September 18, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Teaspoon Software LLC ("Teaspoon", "we", "us"). They cover the teaspoon.app website and the Teaspoon app (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Who can use Teaspoon

The current Teaspoon beta is available by invitation to adults aged 18 or older residing in the United States. By joining the beta, you confirm that you meet these requirements. Beta features may change or be discontinued, and participation does not guarantee future availability or pricing.

The website is publicly accessible. Joining the current waitlist or app beta requires you to be at least 18 years old and reside in the United States. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee a beta invitation.

What Teaspoon is

Teaspoon saves recipes from links you choose, uses AI to structure them, and helps you cook them. The website also offers a waitlist. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee access to the app, or any particular timing, pricing, or features.

Your account

Keep your account credentials to yourself and give us accurate information. You are responsible for activity on your account. If you think someone else has accessed it, tell us right away.

Subscriptions and billing

Parts of Teaspoon require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are purchased through Apple and billed to your App Store account. They renew automatically until you cancel, which you can do anytime in your device settings under your Apple account subscriptions; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. If a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. Prices may change, and Apple will notify you before a change applies to you. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

Your content

You retain any ownership rights you already hold in the content you submit to Teaspoon. Importing, photographing, or saving someone else's content does not transfer ownership of that content to you or to us. Rights in third-party content remain with their respective owners.

You grant Teaspoon a non-exclusive license to host, copy, process, format, display, and back up content you submit, solely as needed to provide the Services to you. This includes processing by the service providers described in our Privacy Policy. The license ends when that content is deleted from our systems, except to the extent limited retention is permitted under our Privacy Policy or required by law.

You are responsible for ensuring that your submission and use of content are permitted by applicable law and any applicable agreements.

Recipes and other people's content

Importing content does not change any copyright or other intellectual property rights in it. Those rights remain with their respective owners. Teaspoon keeps attribution and links to the original source, and your library is for your personal, non-commercial use. Do not use Teaspoon to republish or redistribute someone else's work. If you own content and believe it is being infringed through the Services, our Copyright Policy explains how to send us a notice, how counter-notices work, and how we handle repeat infringers. We respond promptly and remove material where appropriate.

Third-party sources

Third-party websites, publications, and services have their own terms, privacy policies, and access requirements. A Teaspoon subscription does not include subscriptions to those services. You are responsible for obtaining any access or permissions required to use their content.

Imports may be unavailable or incomplete because of access restrictions, source changes, or technical limitations. You may not use Teaspoon to circumvent access restrictions or redistribute content without authorization. Attribution does not replace any permission required by law.

Cooking, nutrition, and AI accuracy

Teaspoon uses AI to read and structure recipes, and AI makes mistakes. Quantities, times, temperatures, and steps may be wrong or incomplete, so use your own judgment when cooking, especially for food safety. Nutrition figures in Teaspoon are estimates, not measurements, and nothing in the Services is medical, dietary, or allergy advice. Always verify ingredients against your own allergies and needs.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the Services. That includes: breaking the law; infringing others' rights; probing, scraping, or disrupting our systems; reverse engineering the app except where the law allows it; reselling the Services; submitting information that is not yours to give; or using the Services to build a competing dataset or product.

Our property

The Teaspoon name, mark, apps, website, and everything we made in them belong to Teaspoon Software LLC. We give you a personal, limited, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. Do not copy or reuse our property without permission.

Apple

The app is distributed through Apple's App Store. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app, is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no warranty obligation beyond any refund of the purchase price under its rules. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms with respect to your license to use the app, and may enforce them. You represent that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited parties.

Ending things

You can stop using Teaspoon and delete your account at any time in the app's settings. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or that create risk for us or other users; where reasonable, we will warn you first. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination do survive it.

Disclaimers

The Services are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Teaspoon Software LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Services. To the same extent, our total liability for all claims relating to the Services is limited to the greater of fifty dollars or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnity

If your content or your misuse of the Services causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages arising from that claim.

Your legal rights are not limited

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. This includes any mandatory consumer protections that apply to warranties, refunds, liability, or where you may bring a claim.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to email us at hello@teaspoon.app and try to resolve it with us informally for thirty days. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and both sides consent to their jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms as Teaspoon evolves. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and for meaningful changes we will let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept it.
